How to Delete a Lyft Account and Why They Won’t Delete Your Info

Have you had enough of Lyft? Are you thinking that one of the apps like Lyft would serve you better than this taxi service? In any case, if you want or need to delete your Lyft account, we’ll show you how easy the process is.
Unfortunately, there is no simple way to delete your Lyft account using the Lyft.com website or the mobile app. You need to contact Lyft’s customer service department directly through the Lyft Help Center. But the steps are very simple. We’ll show you:

To delete your Lyft account:
1. Go to lyft.com.
2. Select Help.
3. Scroll down and select Contact Support.
4. Enter a subject, select Profile and Account Settings > Delete Account or Unsubscribe > Delete My Account.
5. Fill in the “Description” box.
6. Click the box that says: “I’m not a robot,” and then click the Submit
Once you complete this process, an email will be sent to Lyft’s customer service. They will respond to you within a few days (or possibly a couple of weeks if their customer service demand is high) to confirm with you that your account was deleted. You will no longer be able to use the Lyft app.

- Personal information – your name, email address, and phone number
- Anything you filled out in your Lyft profile while you were a Lyft user (using the app), including your photo if you added one
- If you signed up using Facebook – your name, gender, profile photo, and Facebook friends
- The payment method (ex. credit card) you chose for your account and its information
- Any communications you had with Lyft customer service
- Any information you entered while trying to become a Lyft driver if you ever were a driver, or started the process
- Location information – where you were while using the app, the rides you took, drive times, cost, and so on
- Device information – IP address, web browser type, mobile operating system version, phone carrier and manufacturer, application installations, device identifiers, mobile advertising identifiers, and push notification tokens
- Call and text information between you and Lyft drivers
- Your ratings and reviews of Lyft drivers
- Your address book contacts (if you gave permission for this while using the app)
How to unsubscribe from Lyft emails
You would think that after you give Lyft the boot and delete your account, they would know you don’t want to keep receiving their emails, but unfortunately, that is not the case. Lyft will do anything to get you back, including sending you weekly emails with offers for money off rides if you come back. If you don’t want to keep receiving Lyft communications, here’s what you do:
Follow the same instructions above for deleting your account, but once you get on the Lyft Help Page, after you select Contact Support, select Profile and Account Settings > Delete Account or Unsubscribe > Unsubscribe from Emails. Just explain why you want to stop receiving emails, and click Submit.
