How to Use Audible

We're officially through the introductory lessons for Audible, and that means it's time to start learning how to make it work for you! This tutorial will teach you everything that you need to know in order to use Audible, including creating an account, signing up for a membership, purchasing and downloading audiobooks, and listening to books that you've already purchased.
Using Audible
How to create an Audible account
To create an Audible account, you have to go to the Audible website and click "Sign In". Enter your email address, indicate that you're a new Amazon customer, and click "Continue". Then, enter your name, email address, password, and mobile phone number, complete the security check, and then click "Create Account".
1. Go to www.audible.com in your web browser and click Sign In in the top-right corner.
2. Click in the box labelled "My Email Address Is" and type in your email address. Then, click the button that says "No, I Am a New Amazon Customer", and then click Continue.
(HINT: Audible is run by Amazon, so if you already buy and sell on the popular e-commerce website, after entering your email address, click the button that says "Yes, My Amazon Password Is:". Then, click the box right next to it and type in the password for your Amazon account. Then click Continue, and you can skip the next step because you'll be all set up!)
3. Click in each of the boxes highlighted here and type in:
– your name
– your email address
– a copy of your email address
– your mobile phone number (optional)
– a password to protect your account with
– a copy of the password that you picked
– the letters and numbers that you see in the distorted picture
When you've entered all of your information, click Create Account.
How to start an Audible free trial (optional)
1. Once you're on your main page for Audible, click Membership in the menu across the top of the screen.
2. Click in each of the boxes highlighted below and type in or select:
– your credit card number
– your name, as it appears on your credit card
– the month and year that your credit card expires
– the country in which you live
– your street address
– your unit address (if applicable)
– your area mailing code
– the city in which you live
– the state, province, or territory in which you live
– your phone number
Once you have entered all of this information, click Start Your Free Trial Now.
(HINT: If you already have billing information registered with Amazon, click the button that says "Existing Payment Method" and select your payment method from the drop-down menu. Then click Start Your Free Trial Now.)

How to buy Audible books
To buy a book on Audible, find it and click on its picture. On its information page, click "Add to Cart", and then apply any credits or promotional codes (if you want to). Once you click "Next Step", you will have to enter your billing information (if you haven't already). Click "Complete Purchase" to finish up.
1. Find a book on Audible, and click on its picture to select it.
2. On a book's information page, click Add to Cart.
3. On the next screen, click Next Step.
(HINT: If you have any book credits available with your membership, you can click the check box underneath "Apply Credits" to use a credit on your account towards your book. You can also click Do You Have a Promotional Code?, then click in the text box that appears and type in your code, and then click Apply to get a discount on your book.)
4. On the next screen, click Complete Purchase near the bottom of the screen.
(NOTE: If you already have a membership on Audible, then your payment method should already be selected. If you don't, enter the information requested in step 2 of the previous section and proceed with your checkout.)
How to download Audible books
To download Audible books, you will first have to download the Audible Manager. Do so by going to "Library", and then clicking "My Books". Click "Expand" on any book, click "Download Options", and then click "Download". Follow the process to install the Audible Manager, and then repeat it to download the book.
1. Once you have purchased a book on Audible, move your mouse cursor over Library and click My Books.
2. Move your mouse cursor over the book that you wish to download and click Expand. Then, click the Download Options button.
3. Click on the drop-down menu in the top-right corner of the box that appears to select the audio quality of the recording. Then click Download beside the version of the audiobook that you wish to download.
4. On the next screen, you will have to choose what platform you wish to download the audiobook to. For this example, we'll select "Download to My Computer".
5. On the next screen, click Install Audible Manager.
6. After saving the Audible Manager installer on your computer, find it and double-click it to open it. Click OK until you get a message in your web browser that Audible Manager has been successfully installed.
(HINT: Look in your "Downloads" folder if you're not sure where the Audible Manager installer is.)
7. Repeat steps 1 through 3, and when the download box appears, simply click OK to let the Audible downloads manager take care of downloading your audiobook for you. A window like this one should appear:
How to listen to Audible books
To listen to Audible books, you can simply go to the audible website, click on "My Books", and then click the "Play" icon on the book that you want to listen to. You can also listen to a book by clicking on it in the Audible Manager program after launching it. You can rewind, fast forward, place bookmarks, and more!
1. To see Audible books that are available for you to listen to, move your mouse cursor over Library, and click My Books.
2. Move your mouse cursor over the book that you wish to listen to, and click on the superimposed Play button.
3. When the audio player opens, you can click the three bars in the top-left corner to skip to a particular chapter or bookmark (that you've made) in the book. You can also use the arrows below that to, respectively, go back a chapter, rewind, fast-forward, or go forward a chapter.
You can also use the options at the bottom to go back 30 seconds in the book, play or pause the book, or bookmark an interesting area of the book so that you can go back and review it later.
4. To listen to Audible on PC, assuming that you followed the directions in the "How to Download Audible Books" section above, double-click on the Audible Manager on your desktop to load it.
5. Once the Audible Manager is open, click on the book that you want to listen to in order to select it. From there, you can use most of the same commands that you can in the web browser player: set a bookmark, go to a bookmark, go back a chapter, rewind, play or pause, fast-forward, or go forward a chapter.
(NOTE: You may have to authorize your Audible Manager to play some titles. If you do, you will be notified; simply click OK and log into your Audible account again.)
